This is an event I wish I had as a kid. Lemonade Day is a free, city-wide initiative designed to teach kids how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. This event addresses and gets kids motivated early in life and gets them the business bug. Since the majority of businesses are small businesses, we feel it’s important to support these kinds of events in order to support and grow the economy of the future. This is not only a great way to network for the kids, but also adults that get involved as sponsors, volunteers and participants. This is a great way for businesses to participate and show their corporate social responsibility.
Lemonade Day was founded by Michael Holthouse in 2007 and was launched through his organization Prepared 4 Life in Houston, TX. This first year was a learning experience in which 2,600+ kids registered for the inaugural Lemonade Day. In 2008, more than 11,000 kids registered and the contests were added. In 2009, Lemonade Day expanded to Austin Texas and Wayne County Indiana (where Michael grew up). More than 31,000 kids registered in 2009!

Lemonade Day Indianapolis made its grand debut in 2010! Scott A. Jones, Carmel resident and serial entrepreneur, is spearheading Lemonade Day Indianapolis through his new foundation, Think Forward.
Scott was asked by Lemonade Day founder Michael Holthouse to take this on because Michael knew that Scott would “get this.” And he does. Scott is absolutely passionate about Lemonade Day because, as he said, it’s about “kids learning that they can control their own destinies.”
